TOLEDO, Ohio — UPDATE: Toledo police said Friday that a woman who falsely claimed she was being held against her will in a Fulton Street house Thursday was arrested.

The incident began when officers responded to a call for a safety check at a vacant duplex along Fulton Street between Islington Street and Melrose Avenue, a representative for the Toledo Police Department said. First responders arrived shortly before 1 p.m.

A woman let herself into a vacant house on Fulton Street, police on the scene claimed, and her story did not make sense. Police negotiators responded and talks lasted for a little more an hour.

Police determined that the woman, Nichole Swatek, 45, of Toledo, was wanted on felony and misdemeanor warrants. She refused to leave the building and told officers that armed men inside were preventing her from answering the door for police.

Officers determined no armed men were inside the home with the woman and they entered the house and arrested her inside the front door, police said.

The situation was resolved shortly after 2 p.m.
