TOLEDO, Ohio — An officer sustained minor injuries during an early morning fight with what was believed to be an armed suspect Tuesday in west Toledo.

Two officers were dispatched to a call of a man armed with a gun fighting with a woman at Five Points Apartments in the 2600 block of Tremainsville Road just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Toledo Police Department report.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they heard a fight from inside one of the apartments and investigated. Officers came in contact with the suspect, identified by police as 28-year-old Mark Harris, of Toledo, who was reportedly "irate" and "non-compliant."

Harris reached for what appeared to be a handgun, police claim, and a fight ensued. One of the officers was hit in the face by the suspect during the fight, resulting in a cut and swelling to the officer's nose.

The officer did not seek medical treatment at the time of the report and is not expected to miss any work.

It is unclear if anyone else was injured during the incident.

Harris was booked into the Lucas County Jail on charges of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
