OREGON, Ohio — Oregon police are investigating after a person drove a vehicle through the front of a convenience store and stole an ATM inside.
Police received a call about a possible break in around 3:45 a.m. at the Stop n' Go gas station on Woodville Road. The caller said they observed a gray pickup truck leaving while the store's alarm system was going off, according to a report obtained by WTOL 11.
Officers arrived at the scene and found significant damage to the front door consistent with vehicle crashing into it. The glass was shattered across the pavement and both doors were ripped from their frames.
According to reports, an ATM machine inside was stolen. It's unknown how much money was inside the machine at the time.
Officers then received a call about a suspicious person in an alley near Ironwood Avenue.
A green Dodge pickup truck was located in the alley with its engine running. A damaged ATM machine was found in the back with used personal checks scattered nearby.
The owner of the truck was contacted by police and told them it was stolen from his driveway.
A witness told police they saw two males exit the truck and get into a white SUV before fleeing the scene.
No arrests were made.
