Oregon police investigating armed robbery of postal worker

Oregon police said the incident occurred at the Piccadilly East apartments Tuesday.

OREGON, Ohio — Oregon police are investigating an armed robbery against a United States Postal Service worker who was robbed of mail keys Tuesday.

According to a police report from Oregon PD and a police social media post, an officer responded to the Piccadilly East Apartments in the 2700 block of Pickle Road at about 12:15 p.m. regarding an armed robbery. The victim, a postal worker, told officers she had been delivering mail on foot to the apartments for approximately 20 minutes when she entered an apartment building to place mail in secured mail box.

While placing mail in the boxes, a suspect approached the victim from behind, placed a gun to her lower back and demanded the worker's postal keys. The victim complied, handing the suspect the postal keys. The victim said the suspect was wearing a black ski mask, a black hoodie and black pants, all of which did not display visible brands.

The suspect fled out the east door of the building and was last seen running southbound, according to the report. The victim called 911 and fled to the apartment complex office. Multiple police units responded to the area to search for the suspect, using a drone and Toledo police K-9 units.

The suspect was not located, but nearby hospitals and schools, including Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School and Coy Elementary School, were advised of the incident to take precautionary measures in securing the schools.

The worker was examined by a postal inspector for injuries, who said the worker had a red mark or impression where the gun was pointed, but otherwise did not have any injuries.
