OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio — Ottawa County law enforcement arrested a 29-year-old man Friday after an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation led to the execution of a search warrant, authorities said.
In a press release, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said the ICAC Task Force Program provided information about Matthew Shiffert, an Ottawa County resident and registered sex offender, in January 2023. This information prompted authorities to obtain a search warrant.
On Friday, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office and Ottawa County SWAT team executed the search warrant at a residence on West Moline Martin Road. Authorities said they seized multiple electronic devices related to information ICAC provided.
Law enforcement took Shiffert into custody and transported him to the Ottawa County Jail. He is charged with one fourth degree felony count of Failure to Register and four second degree felony counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.
On Feb. 27, Shiffert was arraigned in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court. His bond was set at $750,000.
