TPD: 15-year-old shot in hand in east Toledo Thursday night

Police stopped a car in the area and discovered a 15-year-old female passenger that had been shot in the hand, according to reports.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating after a person was hospitalized after being shot in east Toledo Thursday night.

TPD crews as well as the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department responded to a Shot Spotter alert call just before 7:30 p.m. on the 400 block of North Wheeling Street.

Police stopped a car in the area and discovered a 15-year-old female passenger that had been shot in the hand.

Firefighters at the scene told WTOL 11 the teen's injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. 

According to reports, the driver of the vehicle, Mario Guerrero Jr., 38, shot at another person. Guerrero was arrested for felonious assault and discharging a firearm. 

Reports from police did not state who exactly shot the teen, who the other person was that Guerrero shot at, or how the incident began.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call or text Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
