A Toledo woman being chased by police early Sunday crashed into a garage and duplex before being apprehended.

Toledo police attempted to stop a black pickup truck driven by Deanna Tate, 35, about 2 a.m. for a traffic violation. According to a police report, Tate drove off northbound on East Broadway Street at a high rate of speed.

Police claim Tate eventually lost control of the truck north of Mott Avenue and drove through a backyard and garage, and then crashed into a duplex in the 100 block of East Broadway before coming to a stop. Tate was arrested and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Two adults inside the duplex at the time of the incident were not injured. The Red Cross and city of Toledo building inspectors responded to the scene.

Several felony and misdemeanor charges are pending for Tate. When police asked Tate why didn't stop, she told officers she thought she had warrants out for her arrest.

The garage and duplex were deemed a total loss and are scheduled for demolition.

Police also said the truck was not registered to Tate and the registered owner did not give Tate permission to drive the vehicle.
