SENECA COUNTY, Ohio — A Seneca County commissioner on Wednesday was sentenced to six days in jail for allegedly violating probation, according to Tiffin Municipal Court documents.
Tyler Shuff, vice chair of the Seneca County Board of Commissioners, allegedly violated his interlock ignition device, an in-car breathalyzer that is required to be used before starting a vehicle.
Shuff was convicted of drunk driving after pleading no contest on April 19, 2022. He was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence on Dec. 27, 2021.
He initially pleaded not guilty to the charge on Dec. 28, 2021.
According to court documents, he will serve the jail time beginning April 1, 2023, and his license is suspended from Feb. 1, 2023, to Feb. 1, 2024. His probation has also been extended to Feb. 1, 2024.
Shuff is still serving on the board of county commissioners and was at a board meeting Thursday morning, according to meeting minutes.
Shuff's four-year term with the county commissioners began on Jan. 2, 2021 after he was elected, according to Seneca County's website. He previously served 12 years on Tiffin City Council.
