Shooting victim flees before Toledo police arrive

Officers later found a vehicle that had been hit by gunfire, but no victim.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Shortly before 12 a.m. Friday Toledo police were dispatched to the intersection of Matlack Avenue and Berkshire Place in west Toledo for reports of a person shot and a vehicle accident. 

Before officers arrived, the victim of the reported shooting had fled, as had the vehicle, police said. Police later found a vehicle nearby that had been struck by gunfire, but officers did not find a victim, police said.

Toledo police detectives are investigating the incident.
