DUNDEE, Mich. — A Splash Universe hotel clerk was assaulted by a woman Saturday afternoon after being denied a room, according to Dundee police.
Police said they were called to the hotel on White Tail Drive on Nov. 9 at 4:55 p.m. on a report of an assault. A 20-year-old female employee at the hotel told police that a 32-year-old woman from Monroe jumped the counter and then pushed and struck the clerk.
According to police, the suspect made attempts to rent a room through a website and at the hotel but became argumentative and began yelling at the clerk after her credit card was denied.
"The woman was warned that 911 was going to be called, however, the woman continued to cause a disturbance. As the clerk attempted to call 911, the suspect jumped over the counter and began assaulting the clerk causing the 911 call not to be completed," Dundee police said in a press release.
According to police, the clerk was able to call 911 after the assault as the suspect and her children left the hotel. DPD said the hotel was still in possession of the suspect's credit card which helped identify the alleged attacker.
Police said the incident is being forwarded to the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office for charges. Anyone with information about the assault is asked to contact Dundee Police Sgt. Dale Greenleaf at dgreenleaf@villageofdundee.net.
