HOLLAND, Ohio — Two suspects responsible for the vandalism of several Springfield Local Schools buses have been identified and the issue has been resolved, a district spokesperson said Friday.
It is a story WTOL 11 first reported May 28, following a night of vandalism that left several buses undrivable and forced district leaders to cancel some routes.
It was the second time in 10 days that the two masked suspects targeted the Springfield Local Schools Transportation Department.
In the first incident on May 18, three buses were hit with rocks from the other side of a fence. On May 27, the damage escalated to six additional buses.
The vandalism ranged from a single hit to broken windshields to entire rows of shattered windows. In all, nine buses were rendered undrivable with almost $30,000 in damage, Springfield Local Schools spokesperson Tayler Redinger said in a statement Friday.
The suspects were caught on camera trespassing at the transportation department and the football field.
The Holland Police Department has identified the two suspects involved and both are minors, Redinger said.
"We have resolved the issue with Holland Police, and the minors involved have undergone the appropriate actions," Redinger said. "Thank you to WTOL11 and the community for helping your helping hand in identifying the suspects."
