TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police report that a suspect escaped police custody at Mercy Health's St. Vincent Medical Center Monday night.
According to authorities, a 36-year-old east Toledo man was in police custody on Monday, June 24, for a misdemeanor domestic violence warrant before being transported to St. Vincent Medical Center to be medically cleared prior to the jail booking process.
While at the hospital, the man was under the supervision of two TPD officers until he had been cleared. The officers report that around 9:30 p.m. the suspect was taken to the restroom by a nurse and he began to flee on foot.
Police say the suspect was able to escape the hospital and police were not able to capture him.
An escape warrant has been issued for the man.
