Suspect wanted for felonious assault in Whitmer football game shooting; reward offered for information

TOLEDO, Ohio — A suspect indicted for felonious assault in a shooting that wounded three people is on the run and Toledo police are asking for the public's help in locating him.

Kejuan Lucas, 22, was indicted in July on three counts of felonious assault tied to a shooting at a Whitmer High School football game on Oct. 7, 2022.

On Tuesday, Toledo police posted to social media that Lucas is wanted and a cash reward has been offered for his arrest.

If you have any information, you are asked to call or text Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000.

The Whitmer shooting happened around 9:50 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2022, during the fourth quarter of a high school football game with 6:51 left on the clock.

More than 12 gunshots were heard at the southwest corner of the stadium near the main entrance at which time people in the stands and on the field began to take cover and flee in the opposite direction of the shooting. Three people were injured.

A Lucas County grand jury indicted Lucas and another suspect, Jaron Phillips, in July for their alleged roles in the shooting.

A third suspect, D’Juan Gott, who was 17 at the time of the incident, was arrested on Oct. 6 and is charged with three counts of felonious assault with a gun specification.

Gott allegedly helped Phillips set up the shooting but was not a part of the actual incident, according to Toledo police.
