BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The suspect in a 2023 shooting in Bowling Green that killed two and injured a third pleaded guilty on Monday.
According to court records, Xiaosong Wang, 63, pleaded guilty to the following charges: two counts of aggravated murder, two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of felonious assault and two counts of possession of criminal tools. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 24.
Wang was arrested in September 2023 after he allegedly shot and killed Bing Luan Lin, 40, and Zhichun Huang, 36, in the 500 block of Monroe Court. He also is accused of shooting and wounding 44-year-old Renshuang Qiu.
Some of the charges Wang faces will merge, according to a press release from the Wood County Prosecuting Attorney.
Wang's attempted murder and felonious assault charges will merge into one count and the murder charges will merge into the aggravated murder charges. Prosecuting attorney Paul Dobson also agreed to not recommend life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to the prosecutor's office.
Aggravated murder charges carry a life imprisonment sentence. Other charges Wang faces carry additional possible sentences: the merged attempted murder charges carry an additional three to 11 years in prison, the possession of criminal tools charges carry a maximum of one year in prison each and all of the charges aside from possession of criminal tools have firearms specifications for an additional three years each.
According to the Wood County Prosecutor's Office, Lin and Huang were two owners of the Bowling Green restaurant Ninja Hibachi Sushi Steak House. Qui and Wang were employees of the restaurant.
Authorities say the incident arose from a dispute at the residence where several employees of the restaurant lived. The restaurant owners informed Wang he was being fired after an altercation with another and attempted to give him his final check and evict him. Wang is accused of then shooting the three victims with a .45 caliber handgun.
