Police identify suspects arrested in North Carolina, accused in death of Monroe woman

Steven and Narena Bails were arraigned Tuesday in Monroe after being extradited from North Carolina. They join four other suspects named in Kayla Sedoskey's death.

MONROE COUNTY, Mich — A husband and wife arrested in North Carolina, charged with the homicide of a Monroe woman, were arraigned Tuesday.

Steven Bails was arrested in April in North Carolina after a stand-off with the U.S. Marshals, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. His wife, Narena Bails, was arrested the same week.

The two were previously unnamed suspects, pending their extradition to Michigan for their arraignment.

The Bails are both charged with Homicide-Open Murder and Conspiracy to commit homicide in the death of 23-year-old Kayla Sedoskey, from Monroe.

Sedoskey's body was found covered in a tarp on the floor of the abandoned Boysville juvenile detention center in Frenchtown Twp., on March 2, according to Michigan State Police.

The Lucas County Coroner reported she had two gunshot wounds to her head, one in the back. MSP started its homicide investigation a week after.

In addition to the Bails, four other suspects have been charged in the case.

Alexander Feko, 26, appeared in court May 5, on charges of three counts of accessory after the fact to a felony and one count of tampering with evidence.

The other three suspects - Sierra Bemis, 23; Brin Smith, 19; Kaylyn Ramsey, 32 - all face murder charges and conspiracy to commit murder.

The Monroe County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the case for possible charges against other suspects.

Anyone with information related to Sedoskey's death is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Michael Peterson at 734-242-3500.
