TOLEDO (WTOL) - A 17-year-old charged in connection with the shooting death of three-year old Malachi Barnes, will now be tried as an adult
Matthew Smith, 17, was certified Tuesday in Lucas County Juvenile Court.
The Juvenile prosecutor said his case will now be transferred over to the Lucas County prosecutor’s office which will present it to a grand jury.
Smith was charged in juvenile court with complicity to murder.
He is being held on a a $400,000 bond.
In court on April 1 his attorney filed a motion to have his bond reduced, but that motion was denied.
Smith will next appear in court on May 1.
