MONROE, Mich. — Police with the Monroe Public Safety Department are investigating a shooting that injured a teen Saturday night.
According to a social media post from the department, officers responded to the intersection of East Third Street and Half Street after receiving a report of a person shot shortly before midnight. Police located the victim on scene, whom they described as a 16-year-old male. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper right thigh, police said.

The victim told police he had been walking in the area when an occupant of a passing vehicle shot him, then drove away.
Police said they searched the area to look for witnesses and evidence. According to the social media post, police received 'conflicting information" from victims and witnesses.
Emergency crews treated the victim on scene, then transferred him to the hospital for treatment. The victim's current condition is unknown.

Police stressed there is no immediate threat to the public.
