TIFFIN, Ohio — The Tiffin Police Department is investigating an increase in vehicle break-ins across the city over the past two weeks.
Police said the incidents are not isolated to any area and most of the break-ins involve unlocked vehicles.
The department is offering tips to help protect your vehicle and your belongings.
TPD said to double-check that your doors are locked, even when parked at home. In addition, police suggest not leaving valuables such as wallets, purses and electronics in plain sight or in the car at all.
Police said to park in well-lit areas or close to your home. If residents have a garage, TPD encourages residents to use it. Police also encourage the use of dash cams, security cameras or motion-activated lights around your property.
"If you see anything unusual—such as people checking car doors—call us immediately at (419) 447-2323," Tiffin police said.
