TOLEDO, Ohio — A Lucas County grand jury on Monday indicted a Toledo man on felonious assault charges for a shooting that injured four in east Toledo in early October.
Kayvion Estis, 18, was indicted on three felonious assault charges and one charge of improperly discharging a firearm. He was arraigned in court and pleaded not guilty to all charges. Estis' next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 10 at 9 a.m. His bond was set at $25,000 and if posted, he must be on electronic monitoring.
Estis was arrested by U.S. Marshals last week. Court documents say he first had a physical altercation with one of the victims and then "fired numerous bullets into a courtyard full of people" at 570 Leach Ave.
Four people total, including a 12-year-old, were injured in the shooting.
The victim Estis had a physical altercation with was struck in the shoulder blade, court documents say. Two other victims were in the group of people he then fired bullets into; one was struck in the left side and another was struck in the right leg, causing a fractured femur.
