TOLEDO, Ohio — A suspect was arrested in a north Toledo shooting that killed a teen and injured a second victim late March 14.
According to a press release from Toledo police, crews responded to the 3400 block of Maher around 11:30 p.m. regarding a shooting. Officers arrested 18-year-old Kayvion Estis at the scene. Estis is accused of shooting Justin Carmony, 17, and a second, 22-year-old victim.
Estis was indicted Friday by a Lucas County Grand Jury on one count of murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of aggravated robbery, two counts of felonious assault, two counts of tampering with evidence and one count of having weapons while under disability.
Police transported both victims to the hospital, where Carmony later died of injuries sustained in the shooting.
Carmony's manner of death was found to be a gunshot wound to the chest, and the manner of death was classified as a homicide, the Lucas County Coroner's Office said Friday.
The second victim is expected to survive their injuries, police said.
Following the shooting, crews blocked off Maher Street between Manhattan Boulevard and Homer Avenue.
Police also found a gun lying in the front yard of a home and took at least one witness in for questioning.
