Toledo man accused of kidnapping, assaulting wife

The suspect allegedly struck the victim in the head with a brick, strangled and punched her.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo man is facing multiple felony counts after he allegedly kidnapped and assaulted his wife on Oct. 2.

Court records allege 35-year-old Taurus Jones  drove his wife to an unknown location, where he pulled her from his vehicle and dragged her to a backyard.

In a warrant, police said he then  strangled and assaulted his wife. During the assault, Jones' cousin pulled up to the location, and Jones continued the assault in his cousin's presence.

An additional warrant also stated he punched her multiple times, and struck her in the head with a brick, causing her to lose consciousness. She also lost consciousness after Jones put her in a choke hold, according to the warrant.

When she regained consciousness, she was on the ground while Jones was spitting in her face, investigators said in the document.

The assault resulted in the victim suffering from injuries that included a fractured sternum and right perforated tympanic membrane.

Jones was arrested on Thursday during a warrant service. He was charged with three felony counts: strangulation, kidnapping and felonious assault.

Jones bond was set at $150,000, no percent, for all three charges in Toledo Municipal Court. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Jones is due back in court on Oct. 17 for a hearing. He is currently held in the Lucas County Jail.
