TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police arrested two people and seized several guns and ammo after finding a stolen vehicle in the backyard of a central Toledo residence.

Around 2:45 p.m. Friday, officers located a stolen vehicle in the backyard of the residence on Yates Street.

According to a press release, the occupants of the residence, Ryan Rieger, 34, "is known to steal vehicles and was known to have felony warrants." Officers attempted to make contact with him but ultimately contacted the Gang Task Force to assist when he retreated into the home.

After verifying his warrants, GTF arrived and forced entry into the residence.

39-year-old Christy Rieger, who police said also has felony warrants, was found inside hiding in the attic insulation. She warned GTF that Ryan was "armed and going to kill police," a press release said.

Ryan was found in another part of the attic with a sawed-off shotgun. He was then convinced to give up and was taken into custody.

GTF found five rifles and a large amount of ammo around the upstairs of the residence.

Officers also found the keys to the stolen vehicle in Ryan's pocket.

Both Ryan and Christy Rieger were booked at the Lucas County Jail.
