TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are looking for three suspects accused of smashing display cases and assaulting an employee at a Jared's Jewelry store.
The incident happened at Jared's on Monroe Street on Thursday.
Police say three men entered the store; one smashed out the top of a display case with a hammer and took several items of jewelry while the other suspected told the employees and one customer to get on the floor.
The suspects told them to give them their phones and took a watch from a male employee, threatening to kill them if they didn't listen to them, according to police.
Police say one suspect went to the design center and directed the safe to be opened, which was already open and empty, and asked where the diamonds were.
Another suspect assaulted a female employee and told her to open the display cases, then removed jewelry and loose diamonds, according to police.
Police say the suspects then fled in a getaway car, a black Nissan Rogue with silver trim, which was parked outside the front door.
The suspects are described as black males 5'6" to 6' tall and thin.
Police say they were all wearing hoodies at the time of the robbery and other than hammers, no other weapons were seen.
