Toledo police arrest 182 people, seize 31 guns in operation targeting Five Points, Alexis

TPD also reported $29,790 worth of drugs seized and 79 blight properties and city referrals were made as part of Operation F.A.S.E.R.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police arrested 182 people in a one-month operation targeting gun violence, narcotics, traffic violations and more in the Sylvania and Alexis corridors.

The department on Thursday announced the results of the second operation F.A.S.E.R. -- Five Points and Alexis Safety Enforcement Response -- which began on Oct. 30. The first operation ran for two weeks in 2022.

TPD reported the F.A.S.E.R. 2.0 statistics as below:

  • 31 guns seized
  • 31 search warrants executed
  • $29,790 worth of drugs seized
  • 182 people arrested
  • 525 citations issued
  • 16 DUI arrests
  • 88 parking tags issued
  • 43 truants processed
  • 79 blighted properties/city referrals
  • 79 junk/abandoned cars towed

The department also reported efforts to improve the quality of life for those who live in the targeted areas and residents of Toledo as a whole:

  • 1 curfew sweep conducted
  • 2 gun safety programs
  • 4 gun safety billboards
  • 2 community meetings (Hammers and Eleanor Kahle)
  • 22 area businesses and school contacts for CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design)

The operation brought in other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, too.

Statistics from the first operation F.A.S.E.R., which ran from late February 2022 to early March, include:

  •  38 guns seized
  •  8 search warrants executed
  •  $216,090 worth of drugs seized
  •  590 citations issued
  •  9 DUI arrests made
  •  320 parking tickets issued
  •  8 gun locks distributed
  •  101 junk cars towed
