TOLEDO, Ohio — A man was hospitalized with injuries after being tazed by a Toledo police officer for allegedly resisting arrest at a west Toledo dollar store.
Officers were called to the Dollar General on Jackman Road near West Sylvania Avenue Thursday just before 9 p.m. to investigate an "unwanted person" at the store, according to a Toledo police report.
When officers arrived, the 34-year-old suspect, Lamar Green, allegedly resisted arrest, prompting police to deploy tasers towards Green. The taser caused Green to fall and strike his head on the pavement.
Toledo Fire & Rescue arrived and took Green to the hospital with a "significant head injury." Green was charged in Toledo Municipal Court on counts of resisting arrest, obstructing official business, open container and drug paraphernalia.
According to a court document, Green was in possession of a silver and a glass crack pipe, and also drank an alcoholic beverage in front of an officer.
