TOLEDO, Ohio — A law enforcement operation targeting areas with the highest overdose rates in the United States resulted in the arrests of more than 115 people in the Toledo area in two weeks.
Led by the U.S. Marshals Service, "Operation Wash Out" took place in and around the city of Toledo from Jan. 22 through Feb. 2.
Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force focused on violent fugitives and individuals wanted for felony narcotics violations, according to U.S. Marshals.
Forty people were arrested for narcotics violations, 17 were arrested for assault, seven were arrested for weapons violations and four were arrested for robbery.
"Operation Wash Out was a great example of professional collaboration between multiple law enforcement agencies working towards a shared goal," said Lucas County Sheriff Mike Navarre. "The success of this endeavor positively impacts the residents of Lucas County."
Members of the task force and Toledo Police Department also worked to arrest a suspect wanted for various drug charges and had warrants issued in October 2023.
Tyron Eubanks, 34, was located by the task force and Toledo SWAT at a home in the 1700 block of Loxley Avenue in west Toledo. On Jan. 31, authorities arrested Eubanks without incident on charges of cocaine possession and drug trafficking.
Authorities claim to have seized 30 grams of fentanyl, over 4,800 grams of marijuana, 100 grams of methamphetamine, 42 grams of cocaine, 28 grams of crack cocaine, two shotguns, two handguns and over $10,000 during the arrest. He also had "selling and packaging items such as plastic baggies and scales," according to a police report.
The operation targeted drug-related and violent crimes in 12 locations nationwide including Toledo.
“Our collaboration with local and federal partners exemplifies the strength of unified law enforcement efforts," said Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle. "Together, we successfully executed arrest warrants on violent felons, removing dangerous individuals from our streets and seizing illegal weapons and drugs. This operation underscores the power of teamwork in safeguarding our communities.”
