SENECA COUNTY, Ohio — Charges were filed against a driver accused in a Pleasant Township crash that caused a significant housefire Thursday.

According to a social media post from the Seneca County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle crashed into a home in the 6000 block of N. County Road 33 just before 12:30 p.m.  Investigators said they determined the vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Anterius Thomas, was traveling at a "high rate of speed", failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway.

The vehicle then crashed into the home. It caused a fire, investigators said, which engulfed the residence and the vehicle. According to the Seneca County Sheriff, the fire was exacerbated when ammunition stored in the home ignited.

Sheriff's deputies and crews from area fire departments and EMS agencies responded to the fire. The resident of the home was inside the home when the crash occurred, but was uninjured, authorities said in the post.

Crews worked to suppress the fire. Thomas and the vehicle passenger were taken to the hospital.

Thomas was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failure to control and driving under suspension, the sheriff's office said in the post.
