TOLEDO, Ohio — A teenager was taken to the hospital after a west Toledo shooting Sunday evening.
According to a Toledo police report, officers responded to the 4300 block of Vermaas Avenue after receiving a report of a person shot around 6:45 p.m. Upon arrival, crews located the victim, later described by Toledo police as a 14-year-old male, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim told police he was walking with two other people in the vicinity of Vermaas Avenue and Dryden Drive when a suspect, described as an "unknown male" started following them and began shooting. The victim was struck in the leg.
First responders transported the victim to the hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
Police located shell casings at the Dryden and Vermaas intersections, and said a home on Dryden had been struck by gunfire. No other injuries were listed in the report.
Police continue to investigate. There were no suspects listed in the report.
