Driver charged after hitting multiple cars, striking north Toledo building

The suspect was charged with three misdemeanor counts.

TOLEDO, Ohio — One person is in custody after they allegedly crashed a vehicle into a north Toledo apartment building Monday night. 

According to a Toledo police report, 33-year-old James McDay was allegedly driving recklessly in the 700 block of Walnut Street at approximately 11:15 p.m. McDay is accused of striking multiple parked cars before crashing into the Vistula apartment building at 702 Walnut St.

Authorities arrived on scene and took McDay into custody. 

Toledo Fire and Rescue, a city building inspector and Vistula maintenance crews also arrived on scene. There were no injuries reported, and the building did not need to be evacuated.

According to court records, McDay was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, driving under a suspended license and failing to stop after a crash, all three of which are first-degree misdemeanors.
