TOLEDO, Ohio — Police are searching for a suspect in a domestic violence situation after they believed he barricaded himself in a north Toledo apartment Wednesday evening in an incident that led to two other arrests.
According to a Toledo police report, crews responded to an apartment building in the 700 block of Walnut Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. regarding a weapons call. Police said they learned 33-year-old Terrone Williams was involved in a domestic violence situation while armed with a handgun at a different location, and had fled to the Walnut Street apartment, which was also his last known address. Police also said Williams had several outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
Law enforcement knocked on the door to the residence and announced themselves, but the occupants refused to come to the door and initiated a barricade, according to the police report. SWAT, a tactical medical team and a crisis negotiation team were called to the scene.
According to police, negotiations were unsuccessful, and SWAT deployed chemical munitions into the apartment. Following this, two suspects, Somore Johns, 20 and Juan Jones, 19, surrendered "without incident." Police booked both suspects on outstanding warrants.
Police were not able to locate Williams within the residence, and filed further arrest warrants for him.
The incident did not result in any injuries, according to law enforcement.
