Wood County man convicted of kidnapping, raping 12-year-old

WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — A Wood County man was found guilty by a jury Monday of kidnapping and raping a 12-year-old in May 2023.

Jeremy Sims was found guilty of two counts of rape, one count of kidnapping, one count of importuning, one count of compelling prostitution and one count of gross sexual imposition.

According to court documents, Sims paid or agreed to pay the victim for sex. Court documents also show that the kidnapping happened in a school safety zone.

Sims also pleaded guilty to a pandering obscenity charge in Wood County in 2003.

He is set to be sentenced on Oct. 17.
