WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — A Wood County judge on Thursday sentenced a former personal trainer to 60.5-66 years in prison and lifelong registration as a sex offender after a jury last month convicted him of multiple child sex crimes.
Zachary Gibson, 32, was found guilty of 19 charges, 15 of which are sex offenses involving minors, according to the Wood County Prosecutor's Office.
The charges he was found guilty of include rape, gross sexual imposition, pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and failure to comply with underage alcohol laws.
The prosecutor's office said in a statement it "would like to acknowledge the courage of the victims in this case. We hope that this strong sentence brings closure, justice, and a sense of healing to them and their families."
Gibson was fired from his role as a trainer at the Fastrak Performance training facility in Perrysburg after allegations against him surfaced in 2022. During his time at Fastrak, Gibson worked with high school-aged athletes representing teams from across the area.
According to the prosecutor's office, Gibson used his position to commit criminal acts with some of the students he was training.
