FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) - Liberty Benton Schools Superintendent Jim Kanable is recommending the school board terminate wrestling coach Shane Troyer after the superintendent says an investigation revealed Troyer had an inappropriate relationship with a female student.
Troyer is one of two district employees suspended on November 1. The district said both employees were suspended pending investigations into separate incidents involving students.
On Tuesday the Superintendent's Office announced it would recommend the board fire Troyer, saying the investigation revealed he had an inappropriate relationship with a female student and had violated a number of board policies.
The district did not provide any more details about the incident, but said information from both investigations had been turned over to Hancock County Children Protective Services and the Ohio Department of Education.
Troyer was in his first year as wrestling coach, having restarted the program after the high school went several years without a wrestling team.
The district has not named the other staff member under investigation, or revealed details about either incident.
