SWANTON, OH (Toledo News Now) - Toledo Edison says customers in the Swanton area will see more reliable and constant electric service once the construction of a new substation is completed.
Officials say the new substation, located on County Road J near North Main Street, will allow for quicker restoration of power after an outage because power can be rerouted through the station. The new substation is needed because of growth in the region, particularly among large industrial customers.
"It's very important it shows our commitment to reliable power. Toledo Edison already has a very high level of reliable power to our customers but we continue to commit millions of dollars every year to support that and this is just one project," said Linda Moss, Regional President for Toledo Edison.
The $12 million substation is the company's largest reliability project of 2013. Power should be running through the station by the end of the year.
