Anthony Wayne superintendent announces intent to accept position with Oregon City Schools

Speaking with staff Monday morning, longtime Anthony Wayne Superintendent Jim Fritz shared his intent to accept a job with Oregon City Schools.

WHITEHOUSE, Ohio — Change is coming to Anthony Wayne Local Schools.

After 14 years as superintendent of the district, Jim Fritz has announced he will be accepting a job with Oregon City Schools.

Fritz shared his intent to join Oregon City Schools with Anthony Wayne staff Monday morning, according to a spokesperson for the district. Fritz started at Anthony Wayne as an administrator in 2003 and has served as superintendent since August 2010.

Pending approval from the board, Fritz's last day with Anthony Wayne Local Schools will be July 31.

In a press release from Oregon City Schools, the district said Fritz will briefly serve as Associate Superintendent, then take on his new position beginning Sept. 28, replacing Hal Gregory.

"I believe in the power of education to transform lives," Fritz said in the press release. "The vision of our schools is one where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. Together, we can create a learning environment that fosters both personal and academic excellence."

District leadership said Gregory and Fritz would work together to ensure a smooth transition. Gregory has been with Oregon City Schools since 2015.

Following the transition, Gregory will become Assistant Superintendent of Programs and Personnel for North Point Educational Service Center, starting Sept. 30.

"It has been an honor for me to have served this great district," Gregory said in the press release. "I'm proud of the accomplishments we've enjoyed, thanks to our parents, students, teachers, support staff, the Board of Education, and this amazing community."

"I am also excited the Board of Education has chosen a proven leader like Dr. Fritz. We will work closely together on this transition, and I will continue to assist the district whenever asked. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle."

Fritz's contract will last four years, according to the press release. When he assumes the position of superintendent, his salary will be $160,000.
