MAUMEE, Ohio — All students at Maumee City Schools made a return to the classroom on Tuesday after a staggered start; on Monday, an only-freshmen school day oriented ninth graders to their new environment, with grades 10-12 coming back on Tuesday.
Maumee City Schools staff are excited to see the start of the 2022-2023 school year after a busy summer: more than 300 K-12 participated in summer educational offerings to maintain their academic skills between school years.
The district underwent several administrative changes over the summer. After Superintendent Dr. Todd Cramer left MCS to accept a teaching position at Bowling Green State University, the district named Steve Lee as the interim superintendent.
Cameron Coutcher, who was previously head football coach and a Gateway Middle School English teacher for the district, was hired as Athletics & Activities Director.
Matthew Dick, who was hired as Maumee High School Principal in 2013, was promoted to Interim Assistant Superintendent after Lee left the position to become Interim Superintendent. Scott Perrotte was named the new high school principal after a nine year term as Assistant Principal.
This year Maumee City Schools is looking forward to their new STEAM classroom, as well as a new family and consumer science lab at middle school. "STEAM" adds art to the mix of the commonly-used acronym "STEM," which stands for science, technology, art and math.
