FREMONT, Ohio — Fremont City Schools district leadership has found its next superintendent.
After a months-long search in which the Fremont Board of Education interviewed multiple candidates, the district decided to promote from within.
Denice Hirt, the current Assistant Superintendent, will take over the position from retiring superintendent Jon C. Detwiler, starting in the 2024-2025 school year.
In addition to her current position, Hirt has been a teacher, principal, and director in the district.
She is a Fremont native.
Superintendent Detwiler will be retiring in August of 2024.
