Washington Local Schools board enters negotiation with superintendent candidate

The district's current superintendent, Kadee Anstadt, is slated to retire in July.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Washington Local Schools Board of Education is in contract negotiations with the district's current assistant superintendent to become the next superintendent, a spokesperson confirmed Thursday.

The WLS board agreed Wednesday night to move into contract negotiations with Kristie Martin, who has served as the district's assistant superintendent for the last three years. Martin has also worked as a principal for both a WLS elementary and Whitmer High School; in total, Martin has been with the district for 22 years, the spokesperson said.

The negotiations come three days after the district's current superintendent, Kadee Anstadt, announced her retirement. She has held the position since August 2019 and notably led the district through a temporary switch to virtual learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
