TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Metroparks and Mercy Health unveiled the first FitPark outdoor exercise area on Wednesday morning.
This is the first of several planned FitParks in the Metroparks, thanks to a $500,000 commitment from Mercy.
The purpose of the new fitness areas is to provide easy, free access to exercise equipment as well as another healthy outdoor activity.
"I think it could be a lot of things to a lot of people, so it really is designed to be something that allows a person to pursue exercise and fitness, but to do it in a fun way but to also do it in an environment that encouraging," said Bob Baxter, President and CEO of Mercy Health North.
Following the ribbon cutting, fitness professionals gave demonstrations using the new fitness equipment.
