Dating back to the arrival of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Ohio, testing for the virus has been relatively limited.
Not anymore.
On Thursday, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that testing is now available to everybody in the state. Those looking to receive a test -- whether they are displaying symptoms or not -- can do so by visiting a testing center or pharmacy that provides the service, with Ohio's coronavirus website providing an interactive map listing each location.
Additionally, on Friday, the state will begin the process of using pop-up locations to provide tests to those looking for them. While Friday's pop up locations will occur in Columbus, plans are in place for them to also occur in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton, Xenia, Portsmouth, Columbiana, Akron, and elsewhere.
As noted by DeWine, the availability of widespread testing marks a significant point in the state's response to the coronavirus. By understanding who is sick, whether they are showing symptoms or not, the state is able to better prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
