FINDLAY, Ohio — The University of Findlay is working to return to normal. Leaders expect to host students on campus in the Fall.
The campus of the University of Findlay is vacant now, but the administration is fully expecting to be able to host students and staff on campus by the start of the upcoming Fall semester.
For weeks, a committee has worked on establishing the "Oiler Start Safe, Stay Safe," plan to make sure every scenario is covered to prevent the spread of the coronavirus on campus.
With that plan comes multiple contingency plans for every potential state mandate that may still be in effect in three to four months.
Student housing is expected to be about 60 percent single student rooms, student run events will be closely monitored and the dining hall will lower their max occupancy to 200 people.
For classes, all courses are being tracked with how many students are signing up, and the location of the courses may change depending on the demand.
"So for instance, if 10 becomes the limit, and that really is it, and you have a class of 20, and it's a Monday, Wednesday, Friday class you can actually alternate groups. One week, one group comes in Monday, Wednesday, Friday of the 10, and then the next week the other 10. And on the alternate weeks they'll Zoom in and listen to the class," said Dave Emsweller, Vice President of Student Affairs at the University of Findlay.
Fall semester courses here at the University of Findlay are slated to begin on August 17.
