Hotel Lorraine Needs a Makeover, Visitor Says

He claims there was blood and mucus on the walls and sheets.

TOLEDO -- "It was 2:30 in the morning so we just went to sleep," said Joseph Turner about his stay at the Hotel Lorraine. Went to sleep, that is, in spite of the "stains, blood and mucus all over the walls."

"It's not fresh, it's old. It's been in there for months," he said about the various body fluids that made the stains.

On Thursday, Call 11 for Action problem solver Mika Highsmith visited the room in which Turner stayed. And the walls were stained, just like he said. The tub and bedsheets, too.

"I'm quite sure there is something up in there you can catch. It's not clean at all," Turner said.

Turner was assigned to another room. "I got two dirty rooms in one night, and they told me there was nothing they can do about it."

Mika spoke with management off camera and was told the clerk on staff wasn't supposed to rent out rooms on six of the eight floors, because they have yet to be cleaned and renovated.

Turner wants his money back. "It's not right to treat people like that. I think it should be shut down and a health inspector sent out."

As a result of News 11's visit, Turner was moved to a clean room on a renovated floor, and Mika was told the clerk who made the mistake would be fired.

Mika also alerted the health department who knew nothing about any renovations, so inspectors will be going to check things out.
