Home title headache: Four months later and home title still not fixed for Toledo woman | 11 Investigates

Lori Edwards can't get her home weatherized for winter because her home title is still not fixed.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Summer has turned into late fall and there is still no answer for Lori Edwards.

"I just believe they made a big mistake and I don't know how they're going to fix it," Edwards said.

11 Investigates brought you her story in July:

The home title documents she has state she's living in a 1976 Regent, but the Lucas County estate website shows it's a 1997 Mansion Fiesta.

Edwards is still waiting for her correct title four months later.

"They're just letting me dangle and wait and I can't do that," said Edwards. "I need to move forward and they are presenting a good hardship on my life right now."

Lori said her home needs repairs with the cold temperatures now seeping into her home.

She looked to NeighborWorks Toledo Region to get her home weatherized for winter, but there's a snag.

"They help people with lower income acquire what they need to make their home stable and without my title, they can't go forward," Edwards said.

11 Investigates spoke with NeighborWorks Toledo Region and sent them a copy of Edwards' home title. An employee responded to Edwards stating that because of incorrect information on the title, they can't help until it's fixed.

Edwards said her floor and wall are separated in her bathroom, which lets in cold air. She said her roof is also leaking and it needs to be sealed.

"I'm a single mom, raising four girls, 21 months in recovery, I need this assistance," Edwards said.

Edwards cannot even sell her home because the title is still incorrect.

"I just want to make my little corner of the world beautiful for me and my family," said Edwards. "I don't want to rock the boat, I don't want to cause troubles, but that's what I got."

11 Investigates reached out to CHP Capitol which owns or operates the park and the employee did not want to speak on the record about the situation.

11 Investigates also spoke with an employee with Blank Family Communities which manages the park according to Edwards. He did not have a comment and could not give a time estimate as to when her title will be fixed.

Edwards is raising money in the meantime to try and get her floor fixed while she waits for her home title repair. She started a GoFundMe, that can be found under "Help Us Save Our Home."
