TOLEDO (WTOL) - We had an election just a little more than a month ago. If you think most politicians run for the hills post-November, then you haven’t been to Columbus this year.
These “lame-duck” sessions are among the busiest for Ohio lawmakers.
Ohio state representative Theresa Gavarone is a republican from the third Ohio House district, Wood County.
She was first appointed, then elected to the seat in 2016. Last month, she was re-elected, polling over 62 percent of the vote.
She was slated to be seated at the Leading Edge table, but so it goes as they’re working overtime in Columbus.
As we went to production, Gavarone was in her car, making her way back to Wood County from Columbus.
Jerry talks with her on the phone about what is happening in Ohio’s capital.
It’s an incredible story; extremely gifted musicians gathering together, once again, at the holiday season to celebrate music, community and each other.
Although that’s not unusual.
When you consider that these are brothers who’ve individually risen to the pinnacle of their chosen profession, taught by an award-winning musician and composer himself, who just happened to be their dad, well, you’ve got the DePue Brothers Band.
Two of the four DePue brothers sat down at the Leading Edge table: Alex and Zach DePue.
Zach most recently completed an 11-year run with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, where he was concertmaster.
Alex won the right to perform at Carnegie Hall when he was just 14. Most recently, his mind-shattering fiddling had him playing with Steve Vai, who was music director for country star Chris Cagle.
The brothers have each traveled their own road, but get back together each year. Watch as Alex and Zach discuss why this is so important to them.
