Produce stands across the area are filling up with a summertime favorite.

Home grown sweet corn is now available despite what for many farmers has been a tough growing season.

The crop at Bench Farm on Route Two in Curtice is being described as awesome and spectacular.

This year's harvest is expected to be average to above average.

The cost at Bench Farm is six and a half dollars for a farmer's dozen.

"It gave us a lot of hard work. Had to irrigate since June," said Cindy Bench. "First it was wet. Then it got hot and dry. Anytime it's a hot and dry year the quality is always awesome."

Bench says the tomato crop didn't fare so well.

She says the quality is good but it's not a big crop.
