FINDLAY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a second crash on I-75 near Union Township on Saturday that left northbound I-75 restricted to one lane for much of the morning.

An initial 'non-injury' accident on I-75 southbound at 6:02 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. A D&D Towing truck was stopped on the left side the northbound lane of I-75 after responding to the accident.

The tow truck, which had it's emergency flashing lights activated, was then struck by a 2024 Honda CRV that was traveling in the left lane of I-75 north. The CRV struck the rear end of the tow truck before coming to a halt and catching on fire.

The tow truck, a 2013 Ram was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

The driver of the CRV, a 69-year-old man from Dayton, and the passenger, a 12-year-old girl from Dayton, were removed from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital.

The 12-year-old was sitting in the front-right passenger seat at the time of the accident.

The 12-year-old was then transported to a secondary hospital with 'life-threatening injuries' following the crash. An update on her current medical condition has not been released.

Ohio law allows the use of an adult seat belt for children beginning at the age of eight, and it is recommended that all children under the age of 13 should ride in the back seat.

Both the driver and the passenger were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Impairment is not believed to be  factor in the crash.
