TOLEDO, Ohio — A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed Wednesday night in a west Toledo neighborhood.
At 10:19 p.m., Toledo Police responded to the 3200 block of Downing Avenue for a person shot.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim inside a residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene.
The victim was identified Thursday as Anthony Krug-Overton.
An investigation has been opened.
This latest teen death is the fourth within two months in Toledo. The previous happening on Jan. 9 when police found 15-year-old DeAsia Green shot to death in an alley.
Over the last year, Toledo has seen an increase of youth deaths. In Dec. 2022, the body of two teens were found in a burned vacant house on the north side of Toledo. In total for 2022, WTOL 11 recorded 13 shooting deaths of young people ages 7 months old to 19 years old.
