TOLEDO, Ohio — Fighter jets from the Ohio Air National Guard's 180th Fighter Wing will conduct an exercise in the skies over northeast Michigan Wednesday morning.

People who live near the Elkton, Bad Axe and Cass City, Michigan areas may hear and see fighter jets between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m..

The jets may be in close proximity to a Civil Air Patrol aircraft, which will be taking on the role of a potential threat in the exercise.

If inclement weather prevents the exercise over Michigan, authorities will move the training to southern Ohio, in which case people near Chillicothe and HIllsboro, Ohio, will see the 180th's fighter jets.

Issues with weather also could prompt authorities to change the time of the exercise.

Based at Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport the 180th Fighter Wing's mission includes supporting NORAD and U.S. Northern Command operations.
