2 motorcyclists injured in collision with truck in Port Clinton

A 19-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized after colliding with the truck on Monday. A 17-year-old motorcyclist had minor injuries.

PORT CLINTON, Ohio — A 19-year-old and a 17-year-old, both on motorcycles, were injured early Monday evening in Port Clinton after one collided with a pickup truck backing out of a private drive, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The truck driver, 81, of Port Clinton, backed out of the drive into the path of the two motorcyclists traveling westbound on E. 6th St. east of Adams Street just before 6 p.m., according to the release.

The 19-year-old who was wearing a helmet, then struck the back of the truck. The 19-year-old, of Norwalk, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.

The 17-year-old, of Lakeside Marblehead, "had to take evasive actions to avoid colliding" with the other motorcycle and the truck. They lost control of their motorcycle, set it down and sustained minor injuries.

OSHP says the crash is under investigation.
