TOLEDO, Ohio — Two Toledo firefighters were taken to the hospital after battling a fire overnight Wednesday, a battalion chief with the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department told WTOL 11.
One firefighter twisted their ankle and another suffered heat exhaustion while battling the fire in south Toledo just after midnight. According to an update from TFRD, both firefighters suffered minor injuries, and are now at home recovering.
The battalion chief says the fire was an electrical fire at the home on Leland Avenue near Walbridge Avenue and was quickly put out and contained to the attic.
Northwest Ohio is in the midst of a sweltering heat wave with high temperatures during the day in the mid to upper 90s. According to the WTOL 11 Weather Team, overnight temperatures into Wednesday are extremely warm, with lows near the mid and upper 70s.
